Hi all,
Anyone out there able to identify the location of the attached photo, formation of USAF F-84B’s overflying an air base 1950s. Maybe one of the usual UK east coast fields Bentwaters / Woodbridge perhaps??
Any info gratefully received.

Alas the photos are pretty grainy, looks like more F84s on the ground, but maybe some could be other types, certainly some sort of open day / display.
Here is another shot from the same source, the surrounding terrain looks costal / sandy landscape. So perhaps Fenland or maybe across the sea in the Netherlands?

I agree it might not be in the UK. From the aircraft parked on the right it might be at an open day of some sort. Am I hallucinating or could some of the parked aircraft be French Vautours?

Morning all,
Yup only an assumption by me that it is a UK location, so could indeed be Europe. The buildings on the left of the picture look a bit quaint not you usual RAF / US airfield style.
Also I use the F-84 ‘B’ loosely, just to differentiate from the later swept wing model 84’s.
Ta for the input so far..Chumpy.

Are you sure it’s in the UK? Looks more mainland Europe to me.

Oddly enough, I too thought Manston when I saw that photograph. But when I went down that avenue , I found references only to F.84Es, rather than Bs, operating from there.

Absolutely LOVE that photograph, plus, I’ve got a weak-spot for the F.84 anyways…..**
** (I bought a whole load of Tamiya 1/48th F.84’s about 18-20 years ago, when RiKo were going bust)
Whilst I’m NOT claiming ‘location’, both Manston & Shepards Grove were also F.84 bases IIRC ?
Such a shame thesedays, that this forum is not as ‘strong’ as it once was….
I have an idea to ask “elsewhere”, where, if I get in touch with the right people, you might get your answer.
Meantime, I’m sure there will be a few bright folks kicking around, who DO know the answer
I’ll be looking forwards to see what (convincing) answers turn-up.
