There is little known about the USAF usage of the Fairchild- Dornier 328 designated C-146 in USAF service.
These little regional airliners can pack quite a punch as they are sometimes found carrying some of the most elite special forces on the planet.
Basically they’re used by Air Force Special Operations Commoand (AFSOC) to support Special Operations missions around the world. Apparently the aircraft are assigned to 524 Special Operations Squadron based at Cannon AFB but it supports detachments around the world.

AFSOC is home to lots of wierd and wonderful aircraft from lethal AC-130s and CV-22s to such “mundane” aircraft as U-28A (PC-12) or C-146 to quirky ala C-47T and Russian aircraft ala Mi-8 and An-26.
