This is up for sale at are local auction, can anybody tell me the era this is from or is it modern

The same style of jacket was used from the late 40’s to the present.

Not quite. The USAF adopted new (more modern without external pockets and new fabric) dress unifiorms in the mid-90s.
BTW: the rank on the uniform is Chief Master Sergeant (E-9), the highest enlisted rank. It would be interesting to see what kind of wings are on it.
Probably loadmaster or boom operator. Not Many enlisted aircrew any more.

Most likely mid 1970’s to mid 80’s going by the ribbons. The same style of jacket was used from the late 40’s to the present. Value is not huge,it would help if it is named to the original wearer.
