asking as a general question rather than to one direct individual
the question is as an aviation artist i don’t always have images of the types i want to paint
on here there is a wealth of terrific refrence material
my main question is , what are peoples feelings of thier images being used as refrence for paintings
sometimes they may end up close to the original image ( just altered a little )
or sometimes just for the outline of a particular type in a particular position to paint a picture in difrent markings and surroundings
i’m particularly intrested in the shot of the landing meteor in the old photo’s thread for a present idea
and always work off it is always polite to ask first
as i myself like to be asked for use of my images !!

i mainly frequent the ” e hangar ” web site and the cat 2 art rage site ( aviation and motoring art
if you google ” aviation artists forums ” both are in the top three search results
ive not noticed a seperate area on here or for models either maybe it would be an idea for an aditional area for art and models !!

Same as Paul. I post my efforts in the public domain , and if anyone wants to make use of them that’s fine with me. Sure it is nice to be asked, as Falcon109 was polite enough to a few weeks back, but as far as I’m concerned if I’ve put it there and it’s any use to anyone be my guest…

Hi there,
Personally I’d be very happy for any of my images to be used as a reference, and in fact I’d be very interested to see the results of it. I’m fairly sure none of my dodgy photos will be any use, but if any of them are then by all means feel free to use them.
Do you have any of your work online anywhere? It would be interesting to see it. 🙂
