Useful translation program: Babelfish

When I’m surfing the internet, every now and then I come across a website I can’t read because it is written in a language I don’t understand. I can read French, German, English, and Dutch of course. Today I was looking for info on the Russian airbase at Tver-Migalovo, where most of the AN-22’s are stored. I found a site written in Russian, but I couldn’t read anything of it. I googled with the words ‘translate on site’, and up came a very useful translation program which translates entire websites in, amongst others, English. It’s called Babelfish and you can find it at: http://babelfish.altavista.com/
Copy and paste the URL of the webpage you want to translate in the box ‘Translate a Webpage’ and the webpage appears translated into English. The translation is far from perfect, but at least you can now pick up some of the information of the website.
And it is nice to play with, too, for an hour or so.

Tillerman.

It is a very rough translation, but you can still get the gist of a website… sometimes…

“It is a very raw translation, but you can motionless obtain the essence of a Web site sometimes……”

See! English to French and back.

Nb. NEVER TRY TO GET ROUND FRENCH COURSEWORK USING THIS. Doesn’t work, I can tell you!

and something like a Latin one would be great for sorting out squadron crests.

Try this, these guys are “flakey” but they know their stuff 😉

Latin Translation

Go to the end of the queue and ask for a translation.Be polite, say Please and Thank You,etc.;)
But you’ll have to check back for an answer…..if any …they kind of put you in a queue, but reply to the easiest ones first:cool:

Babelfish has been used here in the past to goad trolls to great effect, many times.
But are there not any others that can also be useful? I once had a Polish translator until it was lost in a sort out, and something like a Latin one would be great for sorting out squadron crests.
