Using Mobile Phones outside the UK

Anyone know if a UK dual band (900/1800) phone will work in Austrailia ? It’s specifically a Nokia 3330 model and a local sim will be purchased for it.

Thanks all for the info, the phone has left the country this morning and I should be hearing from it (Mrs Ren) shortly.

It should do. Dual band operates pretty much everywhere apart from the USA and Japan, you need a tri band phone in those places.

I managed to take my T-Mobile T100 overseas to Thailand. It worked no problem, it’s the call charges that can be a real b.astard though.

25p to send a text messgage, but free to receive. £1.75/min to make a call, £1.40/min to receive. I just use the 1 baht/min Internet Cafés!

Steve some contries (USA for example ) have a poor GSM network (they use CDMA instead) and the GSM frequency is for some reason 1900 MHz. Therefore you need a triband mobile handset to use your GSM there.
