Using photos

Webmaster – what is the situation regarding using photos on this forum from Aircraft Photo Galleries web sites?
Reason for query – I’d like to add photos to a future post.
Regards,

RE: Using photos

That’s all that matters – keep the image in it’s original condition and do not hide the photographer’s details and all should be ok.

RE: Using photos

I think it is ok to use pictures from other sites on here, however, editing the ictures is not allowed in any shape or form.

RE: Using photos

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-01-03 AT 06:15 PM (GMT)]if you’re linking to one off the web, you just put in the picture’s URL (although not all servers will let you know the pic’s URL.)

ie. http://www.anyoldaddress. server/picture.jpg (space added intentionally so it dosen’t try and find such an address)

alternatively, if the pic is on your hard drive (or if you save a picture from a website on to your HD, if eg you can’t get the URL), when writing your post, yoou click on ‘click here to choose your file’, under the Attachment line at the bottom of the post. you then get a popup window, where you can input (or run ‘find’) the location of the pic on your HD.
You than have to remeber to select the type of file (either .jpg or .gif for images) to be uploaded, as the default is uploading as an html document. then click ‘upload’, and it takes a moment to upload, then you can either upload another file, or you can just close the popup, the address for the uploaded file will have automatically been entered in the attachment line for the post.

simple. 😉

RE: Using photos

Could someone explain to me in layman’s terms how you make a picture appear on here, as I’d like to post some myself ?

RE: Using photos

I mostly use my photos, however in some occasions I took some pics from airliners.net. I suppose, as Mongu says, no problem if you don´t use them commercially.

RE: Using photos

A lot of us (me included) habitually post pics taken from airliner.net

My understanding is that as we are not making commercial use of these images, denying the copyright holder any income they otherwise might enjoy, or hiding the source of the photos, that no commercial or copyright laws are being broken.

The last thing I claim to be is a lawyer though!
