I think we can take for granted the dislike of US Navy against all STOVL-VTOL aircraft. They are constantly trying to convince both US gov n taxpayers that Cat.Lanched-hook landed aircraft consist a much better solution. But maybe there is an other reason.
One of the greatest assets of any carrier are all that TV network cameras that embark on the ships and shot impressive reports with very aggressive take offs and landings, every time there is a crisis somewhere on the planet. By comparison Harriers look so flabby and sloth.
