Last shot looks like Mark A’s RV.

You’re not wrong Neil!

Too good a day not to go flying – sorry I didn’t have anything more vintage to come in.

Though the last VAC event that I flew into with the Chippy, I was the only one (aircraft) there.

Mr Hitchman was there complete with Cub and camera, so maybe there’ll be something in Popular Flying.

The Yak thing is a Nanchang CJ-6 if I remember correctly!

I think there is a share in this one advertised in Loop?
Certainly made a lovely noise as it joined overhead, and I think it looks less ungainly on it’s undercarriage than the Yak (has proper retracting main wheels as well) but was surprised that it has 280BHP against the Yak’s 360/400 does that make it a little easier to convert onto?

Not that I can afford the share at the moment, nor would get Senior Management Approval for such a dangerous looking machine (in her eyes)

…The picture of the Robin, However, does not do justice to that Shade of Green….It is so awful I kinda like it…..:D

It is of its time isn’t it? Original colour scheme I believe so probably one of only a few in that colour…

Mind you the picture of the Jodel makes it look cleaner and smarter than it was too. Nice to see a “used” aircraft…

Damien watch out youve got comppetition. 😀

I love the photos that Kids take at this age, they don’t know the rules (not into sun, keep it straight) they just take photos of what they see. Most of the output is awful, but you do get these gems mixed in among them.

Both him and my Daughter like going for lunch at the Flying Club, they can’t wait for me to get my PPL back and have a flight in ‘BOZI
My Daughter has already flown in a Dragon Rapide (AA’s blue one) and a Squirrel egg-beater!
With both my Father (Gooney Bird) and I exerting our influence, and the provenance of their Great Grandfathers in Aviation, at least one of them must end up interested!

Wessex Boy, guilty as charged. Looks like you’ve got a budding enthusiast there?

Aah Ozplane, were you the one sat with the Auster Chap in the clubhouse?
I may have spoken to you if that was the case, Rhys and I had our lunch at the next table after he had been out to play in the Warrior:
I am sure if Tom Cruise had worn a Bob-the-Builder hat, he would have pulled Kelly McGillis much faster…..

Damien, tricky choice, beer or aircraft. A 50/50 ball I’d say.
Wessex Boy, sorry I missed you but you did get the tail of the Airtourer in your picture of the Auster. Come and say hello at the next one and Rhys can come and have a twiddle on the controls. I liked the last shot of the apron against the light. It was in my eyes all the way home so I flew one-handed shielding my eyes with the other one.
Arm Waver, yes it did get a bit complicated with the parking didn’t it? The Cherokee that landed in front of me was parked with you but I ended up on the apron. Oh well see you at Fenland
and finally
Blue Robin. I think you’ll find that the aircraft in the last picture is a Brugger Colibro G-BKRH I think. It’s a Swiss design and is basically a Jodel with Turbulent wings. Very pretty but quite small inside.

Sorry I missed you ozplane but I was stuck down the other end of the airfield… Confuusion reigned with the parking as the plan was that our visitors would be down on the “spare” runway and shuttled back and forth due to limited ramp space and waterlogged grass. Somehow it didn’;t quite work out that way…
BR – It was G-MARX but not flown in by who you mention from what I can tell.
WB – It was good to meet you and your son too. I have some shots from the far end but left them at home – I’ll post them tomorrow. And AJM is right it is a Nanchang CJ-6

Ozplane, shame I missed you!
I arrived at just after 12 (by road), took my son out to see the Warrior I normally fly, and then partook of some lunch.
I then bumped into Arm Waver, who took us down to the other end to see the aircraft parked down there (seemed a shame to park some aircraft down there when there was space on the apron)
Good to meet you AW! Thanks for taking us down the other end, Rhys really enjoyed that, although I realsied when we got back that I had not taken any photos!
Lovely Auster:

Well I made it to Conington in the faithful Airtourer, G-AWVG, at 1142. Tried to find Arm Waver and Damien but failed and got some strange looks from a couple of people I accosted. Good turnout though so roll on Fenland in April I believe?

Which forecast are you looking at Damien? Look East has just given South-westerly at 12kts with sunny periods. Everything else including the “Long TAF” is giving rain showers and a moderate hoolie. Anyway I’ll try to make it if she starts.

Something like that yes… (I tend not to be totally orange these days…)

He’s still pretty distinctive though! 😀

I sometimes drag my kids along to the odd event too – mind you I have to watch them so that they don’t join in!!!

I am sure that my 3 and 6 year olds would love to help with some marshalling, the Apron would probably resemble my Son’s box of planes….with just as many intact props and tailplanes:D

I may have to bring the Kids, but I will certainly pop along for an hour or 2 over lunch time.
I assume you’ll be the one inconspicuously dressed in Orange frantically waving?:D
