A lot of films and TV shows from that period haven’t aged well.
Many tried too hard to be hip and current.

Laugh-In wasn’t supposed to be overly brainy….it was just vaudville (or music halls as they were called in the U.K.) brought up to date on colour television.

I love Monty Python, but at times they seem to be saying…”We went to Cambridge…aren’t we clever”. I love the bit about the gangsters wanting the army to pay protection money…

Goodnight Dick.

I saw a couple of re-runs of Laugh-In many years ago on cable on Nick-At-Nite and it hadn’t aged well at all. The sight of Peter Lawford, prematurely aged from booze and drugs, dancing and dressed in hip late sixties style, was pathetic.

And for a you-can’t-make-up-this-kind-of-stuff story, consider the life of the “Sock It To Me Girl,” Judy Carne:

Far too sensible for the show really. But tasty all the same, I’d have let her park her slippers under my bed anytime.

Most of us also probably took more notice of the dizzy blonde(Goldie Horny) 😉

Everyone remembers Goldie Hawn in the show.. but how many remember the equally zany Jo Anne Worley??

Just flicked through a few clips on youtube and most of them raised some fond memories.

I too remember the show. Gave us the ‘very interesting-but stupid’ remark which everyone seemed to latch on to.

I remember the show well, it became quite a cult thing in the late 60’s, we all loved it at the time.
Unfortunately, it hasn’t aged well, look at some of the sketches now and they are cringeingly embarresing.
I just looked for his obituary on Google and ended up reading about ‘The Laugh In’ on Wiki, it lists many of those good old catch phrases we used to mutter around school at the time, makes you wonder how we thought it was funny, especially when you compare it to the contemporary ‘Monty Python’, which was just getting in its stride as ‘Laugh In’ was losing popularity.
Still, the show gave us Goldie Hawn, who still looks good 40 years on, without the aid of plastic surgery by the way.

The vast majority of forumites are probably far too young to remember him
