Valiant XD819

Now here’s a bit a problem I’ve got that I would like some feedback on if possible?

Basically my Father-in-law was a servicing chief on the Valiant V-Bombers for 7 years based at Marham. He’s always maintained that his aircraft was XD818 (now preserved at Cosford), somewhere he’s still got the spare key!

However, he recently gave me a 5 inch diameter reel of 8mm colour film that he shot while in service on trips he made in the Valiant, unofficial of course!

All along I thought this was footage of 818 but can’t seem to find any dates that tie up with the trips.

On the reel (not that I’ve seen it, lamp blown on the projector!) is labelled “Rhodesia Trip XD 819? July 1964 Ft. Lt Webb” also there’s a few other splices and he has said that there’s footage of Goose Bay 1962 on the same reel as well.

So therefore, has anybody got info on 819 as I’m sending the film off for restoration and enhancement on Monday?

Any thoughts will be most appreciated.

Cheers
Tim
