I would bet on “Europa”. Ships are these days named after rivers, cities and federal states. (e.g.Elbe, Frankfurt, Sachsen). The next bigger thing would be the complete country. But a little bird tells me there would be no “Deutschland”, therefore I think “Europa” would be a nice name. Hey, and it is political correct. 😉

Even if Germany would build a ship that could be described as a carrier, the name wouldn’t be Graf Zeppelin. The actual socialist/green party government is about to ban names as Mölders, Scharnhorst, Boelke or Immelmann. Every naming after persons that served the armed forces prior ’45 will be removed.

Who is to say what parties will be in power at such a time and don’t forget that post-war Germany has already had destroyers named Lütjens (D185) and Mölders (D186).

Graf Zeppelin is not a bad suggestion, but if you follow the Franco-American example you could use names like Konrad Adenauer or Willy Brandt.

The lefties getting more and more fans within the armed forces, with their nice ideas. As if we had no better problems then to rename dozens of units and barracks. 😎

The name is already taken. KNM Valkyrien is a RNoN support tug.

It would be great if Germany built a carrier. Could call it Graf Zeppelin! Maybe get with the Brits and French and build a CVF…….Then they could buy Rafales………The French really need some one to buy those things! I don’t think the Dutch would ever spend the money for a carrier again. They had their day in the sun with the Karel Doorman.

Interesting concept as such but “This ship design was co-developed by the Countries of Germany, Spain, and The Netherlands during the 2040 time frame.” makes it not very credible: by then, I would expect systems such as APAR to be grossly outdated
