RNAS Yeovilton held their photocall yesterday and Air Day today. How many of you went there yesterday and paid £20 for their photocall which started at 1700 and finished at 1900? Do you think this is good value for money for 2 hours shooting a mediocre static in failing light and poor weather? People moan about RIAT prices, but for £24.95 you got a full-day’s static and air show in mid-July, which is a hell of a lot better value than what Yeovilton offered! Yeovilton also charge £20 entrance for Air Day today with an awful lot less that RIAT offers and much worse weather! Since Yeovilton’s shows have been run by a civilian Agency, the quality has dropped and prices risen. Such a shame as the Fleet Air Arm used to put on some wonderful shows there.

I was seriously thinking about going to Yeovilton this morning. But when I woke up at 5.30 it was pouring with rain and the Wx whilst it wasnt too bad it wasnt really good either. That coupled with the mediocre line up put me off (was only really going for the Seas Hawk and Fury anyway and the wx early on when they were likely to be displaying didnt look good). That and the fact I would have had to put other things off made the decision easier.
The entrance fee wasnt one of the reasons I didnt go. £20 seems the standard entrance fee for a show nowadays.
