Vampire and Venom pictures

As we have done so well for the Lightning and Canberra, would anyone like to share pictures of Vampires and Venoms? In service, preserved, or whatever.

I dont have any to hand, but will dig some out later!

Love that early cockpit section TerryP.

here are some more of XE 982, sorry if I’ve doubled up!

I believe the aircraft is no more, parts being sold

More photos would be great.

I have a couple of the example at the Museum of transport and technology in Auckland N.Z. somewhere. I’ll try to post them shortly.

Dave.

I’ve just joined this site,so still stumbling around a bit.

As I have a soft spot for Vampires, and Venoms. I thought I’d throw on some pics of a T.11, XE982, that I restored to static condition at Dunkeswell, in Devon back in the early 1990’s. Unfortunately, it was’nt looked after, and soon fell into disrepair in the elements. This aircraft was written off very early in its life by WL 505 in a collision whilst at Cranwell. ( see photo posted by laurieb back in March. )

I believe the aircraft now resides in the Irish Republic.

I have other photos’ of it during resto’ if anyone is interested.

XG 730

Here is another shot of XG730 sitting on top of an Elizabeth trailer of MARTSU at Lee-on-The-Solent. Thanks Lee for letting me know the final destination of Salisbury Hall, I worked there in the late 1960’s at weekends really must pay a visit some time.

RCAF 17007

Just passing on a Vampire photo. The photo was probably taken in Canada, but date and photographer are unknown.

Thanks Lee, I didnt realise

Interestingly, there is a dent in the intake that corresponds to that trestle – all makes sense now!

This is how MARTSU made a small aircraft into a wide load!

Bruce should be interested in this one – XG730 en-route to/from HMS Dryad (now, of course, at Salisbury Hall).

J-1634

Look to be taken at Wanaka?

Yes, I now have confirmation that the photos of J-1634/ZK-VNM were taken at Wanaka “10-12 years ago” by Phil Burns. It was owned and flown by Trevor Bland and later crashed through a hedge or fence after engine failure at Ardmore. Covered with foam, it never flew again.

J-1799 ex G-BLIC ex N502DM was purchased to replace it and then, strangely, given the same civil reg no of ZK-VNM.

Here are three that may not have seen the light of day, NZ5703 looking rather odd waiting to go for scrap in 1962, and Jim Kerr’s XE920 out for its first engine run at Sealand.

I must have had this print for more than 40 years.

Anybody know the story?

Apologies to an unknown photographer.
