looks to me like the wood has been compromised on BOTH sides of the fuselage aft of the canopy and the engine looks a bit rusty to boot.

That quote is insane, even an airworthy vampire takes alot of work to take care of, usually takes us about 2 hours to get it ready for a 45min flight.

Looks like a spot of corrosion behind the canopy… are they sure about the airframe condition after 15 years of outside display?
Not corrosion – the Vampire fuselage is made of wood. If anything what you see is even more worrying – its the fuselage covering lifting away from the wood, and this will allow the ingress of moisture.
Its a nice static project, but too far gone to be made airworthy without investing a LOT more than it is worth.
Value? About £6-7K IMHO.
