Has anyone got going for disposal or know of a source for a Goblin engine that isnt seized and isnt going for silly amounts of money.
Complete and prefferably not seized.
Also a Vampire T 11 Fuselage Fuel tank again not with big holes in it but repairable if need be.
NOT FOR FLIGHT so paperwork is not a requirement. Also any electrical stuff such as inverters etc. Also main wheel tyres, brake units etc. Also fuselage wiring looms UNCUT required.
Again not interested in paying lottery numbers out for our long term project but a fair budget for items is available.
Ta very much

Thanks Bruce yes please if you have them.
You dont have a fuselage fuel tank you keep tripping over do you ?. We are hopeful we might be able to get the candle lit and do engine runs.

Might have a starter floating around. You’ll also need a starter panel and other bits I guess?

When we shifted them all at Woodford we had all the proper transit stands and everything wish we had them now.The wings used to go in one pair of stands wing tip to root end upright. The pods had three support stands and the booms and tail had their own stands.

I am sure that a Vampire in bits is one lorry load if the wings are stood on the leading edge either side of the pod. I know that we moved VV217 (an FB5) this way and can remember seeing a T11 on the M25 one Saturday all on one lorry.

Not last autumn it wasn’t. It has been off site for over year with just the wings left at the museum pending transportation. I know, ‘cos I shifted it!
Hi Johnny did you shift the wings together with the gear down or one at a time ? so I know for my lorry man. There is some thought about folding the gear but I thought that might actually make it a wide load ??( 11feet and a bit ??).

Yes, though its surprising how tricky it can be to find some parts!

The Vampre T.11 has suffered quite a high mortality rate in the last twenty years!

The Ripley Vampire fell apart; the wings and booms survive within a composite at E Mids. The mortal remains of the fuselage are in my shed!

The Ripley Vampire went quite a few years ago now but I’m 100% certain its engine (or certainly a Goblin) is still sitting in the car park and it was still free to turn over when I was last there about three months ago. They don’t have any other aircraft or military vehicles either, the Chieftain, Saracan and Fox i think went a while back. They often have some very tatty Landrovers they are trying to sell though.
Much of what Anchor try and sell has dream world pricing to be honest so it doesn’t supprise me they wanted £3k for the engine.

Mike,
Thanks for the additional information, the aircraft was slightly before my time at NEAM, as I did not join until 1979. I remember seeing the aircraft at Lambton Lion Park and the Tyneside Summer Exhibition before its move to Usworth. I was aware of the connection to the SAPS as I wrote a history of NEAM a few years ago.
I am pleased now that a little bit more of its post service history has surfaced.
Actual move date to the North East was 11th October 1975. Can you clarify the comment about it coming from Shawbury as most reports state Oakington to Chester then Woodford.
We are going back a long time now but from what I recall the majority of the airframes came from Shawbury via Chester. But One airframe stayed over there and that was the one that I got going and ground running for Bryn and Jim kerr before he sadly got killed when she piled in at a show.
Wz518 and two others came in under their own steam but on eof them went back to where I do not know the engine from WZ518 and the other where pulled and sent back to the vintage pair as spares.I think but not sure that the one that returned to where ever may have ended up being the vintage pair spare ship.(I think one of them was the one lost during the sad mid air collision they had.Meteor vs Vampire).
WZ518 was fully working when I got her you could climb in with the batteries connected power everything up and even the ignitors on the engine frame would click when you tried an engine start sequence.Shame wish I still had her I would have definitely tried to get her into the air.But I did hear unconfirmed that at some point after I parted with her that she suffered some damage in storage or is that part of the confusion with the other airframe that was up there(was it a vampire or a venom ?) as someone tried to tell me that she was in very poor shape when they got her and that was totally incorrect and she was inside from arrival at Woodford in the Mu to going to storage at Handforth and then she spent a few months at Pomona Dock before moving .And she definitely was in excellent condition.
