Hi All
Does anyone have any information about how to properly lift and turn the wings for a T11. We are in the process of repainting our aircraft but are a little stuck as to how we go about lifting and turning the wings, any help would be gratefully recieved.

I am trying to discover if there is such a thing as a painting specification for the Vampire, giving details on where stencils etc go. Does anyone know if such a thing exists and where I might get a copy.
We have been interested in this also but on a contact with DH at Duxford by one of our guys it appears the drawings with the details on are available but they require a fee of £50 to release a copy. perhaps a few of us who need the info can club together share the cost and the drawings concerned.

Yes, there is a drawing which details all of the stencils. de Havilland support at Duxford will have it, but it might be expensive. I used to have a copy, but no idea where it went!

OK – in that case, make up a lifting bracket to attach to the boom extension. Place sleepers or similar under the leading edge, but ensure that when you do lift it, the intake doesnt come into contact with the ground.
Lift on the boom extension with a crane or hiab – you’ll just have to be careful as it gets to the upright position, and swings the other way.
DONT use strops around the wing to do it – you will buckle the skins over the flap bays, and if the flaps are still fitted, you will buckle those too (Been there…..)
Feel free to post some pics of the aircraft!

Hi Bruce, may not have explained myself very well, we have the wings disconnected sitting flat right way up, we want to flip them so we can work on the bottom surfaces.

Lift and turn?
Not quite sure what you mean here.
The lifting point for the Vampire wing is the undercarriage leg – open the little hatch on top of the boom extension and attach your lifting strop there.
If the wing is upright, it is lifted from the boom attachment bolts on the boom extension.
