Interesting story, general aviation has had as many weird/insane/brilliant (take your pick) proposals as the military field.
Another would be early bizjet was the Douglas F3D SkyKnight. There was some consideration by Douglas into turning that into a passenger jet. Being a large side-by-side night fighter, it was large enough to have been a good starting point.

This would have likely arrived in the USA ,with 2 others, as part of the attempt to create an exec aircraft, great article here..

Hi Bruce. It is called – Wrecked & Abandoned Aircraft,ships and subs. I have just checked, it is a `secret` group now for some reason. Blue2 is on the group too so should be able to add you.

I was thinking about posting this myself after seeing it on the Wrecked & Abandoned Aircraft Facebook group today. There are a lot more pics on there. I do like civvy schemed warbirds 🙂

It had been taken on by the local college, but maybe it fell through.

Close inspection reveals that the front of the pod is about to separate from the back of it. Shame.
