Hi guys,
What a great site !, if only the internet was around in my younger days…..
Finding this site has rekindled my passion for aviation (I only live 3 miles from Gatwick) and especially taking down reg no’s. Anyway back to my question :
Is there anyway I can find out the registration no’s of the vapour trails I’m always seeing flyover gatwick – I’ve seen on a previous thread that you can view ATC through Google Earth although the data is something like 4/5 mins old but this just seems to give the flight no.
Any info on this would be appreciated
Cheers
Tim

Hello
There is this site if you know of the aircraft flight number, you can type it in and the reg comes up, although you might have to take note of the flight number as the reges aren’t uploaded to the site until 4-6 hours (maybe less) from the time the plane took off.

Tim,
If you right-click on an aircraft that you are viewing in Google Earth (presumably through www.openatc.com ), and copy the hexadecimal number that it reveals, paste it into http://www.airframes.org/ and it will give you the registration.

If you have a scanner and the frequencies you can get the callsign and flight no, you can post a message on to ottspotters.com and they will get most if not all of them tied-up!
Also, you can check Acars Logs and SBS Logs

You can also get various acars and sbs postings on the various e-mail groups, i think there is a Gatwick spotters group.(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gatwickairport) among others.

Yeah if you have a spare £500 you could get an SBS box and everything you see will be on the screen.
