Varsity Express?

Seems like there is a new start-up regional airline due to commence flights between “London” Oxford and Edinburgh from 1st March…they’re called Varsity Express.

Fares start at just £49 one-way, and flights are being operated by Linksair Ltd., based at Humberside, utilising their Jetstream 31 (18 seats in a 2+1 configuration).

LNQ601 – Dep: Oxford 08:00; Arr: Edinburgh 09:30
LNQ602 – Dep: Edinburgh 17:00; Arr: Oxford 18:30

Nice website, and at £49 one-way, I personally think this could have potential to do quite well, and it will appeal to businessmen/women as it will save them the hassle and stress of having to fly from LHR or getting the train!:)

A new press release…

Unfortunately on March 8th 2010 at 3pm Varsity Express ceased services due to operational differences with the operator, Linksair

All passenger refunds have been processed and customers can expect to receive their funds within 14 working days. Varsity’s credit card clearing house, Pensio, is based in Denmark and are handling the refunds. All passenger funds were kept securely away from the working capital of the company and so all passengers who were unable to fly with Varsity can be assured of a full refund

There are currently many inaccurate and factually untrue media reports surrounded the Varsity Express operation and the individuals behind it. Many of these stories are completely false and untrue and the company will not be drawn into discussion over such claims.

Many thanks to all of our customers, it was with deepest regret and under very trying circumstances that we were forced to withdraw services. We apologise for the obvious inconvenience caused

Was going pass comment on PPRUNE, but it’d just get deleted as it would mean mentioning A1 in depth. So I’m staying stumm.

Do we actually know if he realy did fess up to lying? Seems odd that he would do so publicly one moment, then deny it the next?!
Is he playing games or has someone tried to dob him in it?

I’m sure the police will seperate the wheat from the chaff.

Not on that particular subject it doesn’t.
You can blame yourself (amongst others) for that.

Absolute crap… I’ve not said anything defamatory about the person or either of his (in my opinion) ill-conceived ventures. The good news is, no matter how self-righteous you want to be, the synics have been proven correct – again – and the even better news is that there’s unlikely to be another debate because the person concerned is extremely unlikely to get a third chance at setting up an airline.

Come on chaps, I’ve enough cleaning up to do as it is, can we redirect the comments away from the legality of each other’s posts (That’s our job) and concentrate on the topic. Because you’ll all moan at me when I do clean it up. 😉

And it doesn’t give you license to slag off anyway. Suggest or speculate perhaps.

Again, I direct your attention toward the question marks in my post.

I’ll remember that next time I want to slag off Alpha One or Martin Halstead – the question marks will make it all OK!

There is a distinct legal difference between speculation, suggestion and statement of fact. Or so I am told.

I know what will happen here, my post will be seen as inflammatory. I’m trying to stop someone getting into trouble, not cause it.

It just seems to me to be a dangerous thing, leaving potentially inflammatory allegations like that in place while it seems that they are aimed at the injured party. Let’s face it Sandy, should Mr. Ibbotson take umbrage it wouldn’t be you who he would go for, but Key.

(Was going to go for the hat trick at using the word inflammatory but I can’t think of another instance in which I could use it.)

To remove a former comment would be to hide from ones mistakes.

I freely and unabashedly admit that this time, my suspicions have been proven wrong and therefore retract them. I also wish all parties involved the best of luck in getting some measure of recompense at MH’s expense.

For the record, you will note that my previous post contained several question marks (?). Indicating I was not making a statement of fact.

Kev, rest assured that if Mr Ibbotson took the same amount of interest in the nature of what’s being said about his business here as did Mr Halstead in the past, the mods would be all over BMused post 😮 Maybe we should drop him (Ibbotson) a note and let him know what’s being suggested about his business! :diablo:
