VC-10 enthusiast on the move!

Spotted in East Cambridgeshire twice recently, and bringing a smile to my bleary commute, was a car bearing a registration that suggests a Forumite:

VC 10 FAN!

We like!

Carole and I still have our “Pilots Log Book” with our flight details although mine is a little haphazard due to the crew parties!

At work where photobucket is blocked, so can’t tell if this link will work or if it’s just the box with red cross of death inside it….

That brings back some great memories. It was 30th January 2004 when Carole and I flew in the tanker. An unbelievable experience. I was also allowed to go on the flight simulator which was a scary thing as at that stage I had no interest in actually flying a plane. Now I will do anything to get a ride in a plane. (well almost!)

Quite a coincidence as my wife and I are also ex VC10/707 cabin crew!!
(1974 ish!) although we both met before joining as we were with Court Line
before joining BOAC.
Happy days-wonderful aircraft-great routes too.Still have all my log books which I kept (pilot style) with Captains name/routes/pax loads and any significant comment etc about passengers.

Tangmere will know this, I’m sure – do I remember Johnnie Johnson’s Range Rover being J1 AVM?

I have driven V12 RAF and V12 RFC a few times. Driving V12 RAF with a Spitfire fuselage on the trailer was pretty cool!

Some here will recognise the plates and who the owner is.

Thanks for the welcome, it is a great forum
I was fortunate enough to get a ride in an RAF VC10 tanker a few years ago refuelling Tornados over the North Sea. An incredible experience, will try to find some photos.
Anyway here is a photo of an Air Malawi VC10 at the end of its life.

Whilst you seek out your refuelling photos, here is one from 2006

There’s a “F104 PLT” & *HABU PLT* around here & a former Luftwaffe pilot at VNY who had *ME109G6* on his Mercedes…

In the 80s, I had “P-51” on my Ford Mustang.

Hi Frampers, welcome! You could of course always put up a link to a page on a certain site… 😉

TonyT, thanks but we’ve missed the 50th anniversary by now so there’s not really a point anymore. To be honest the remark was a bit tongue in cheek…

Welcome to the Forum Frampers!

Many of us are just as “sad”!

I’m still hoping the owner of VC10 FAN will appear here! Still see the car from time to time.

VC10 FLY

I actually own the cherished registration number VC10 FLY (as well as DC10 FLY). It is currently on my VW Golf. I have also had the number registered in Ohio. I am a lifelong fan of the VC10. I was fortunate enough to work as a BOAC steward for a few years in the early 1970’s. I met my wife Carole, a BOAC stewardess, whilst working on the VC10 and we have now been married for 40 years. I even have VC10 on my cufflinks, how sad!!
