CS,some of the tanks also have cameras, some are metal and others `plastiqe`/fibreglass,and combinations of.(same with weapons, bombs /rockets)Therefore the `flying characteristics,full/empty have to be determined by `jettison trials` at various airspeeds/manoeuvres in the flight envelope.Even though they may look similar shape /size,their Cof G will determine if they drop clean/roll/tumble/strike the aircraft..

Thank you. I’ve wondered for a long time what it meant. Does seem strange that the capacities are the same and the speeds are different!?
Now I can’t find it. Must have put it in a safe place;)

Speeds for jettisoning the tank, depending on type fitted to the aircraft…

Found this reverseable label in amongst some scrap.
Looks like it came from a Swiss aircraft. Anybody any Ideas what it means?

The Swiss Venoms may have been slightly different but the manual gives two different figures 450 litres in the system diagram and 350 litres in the text! That is either 97 or 77 gallons. There again there may be differences between capacity and usable fuel. Incidentally Wingtip tanks are Flugel Ende Tank “FLENT” and drop tanks are Flugel Unter Tank “FLUNT”

According my data list, Venom – 80 imperial gallons, Vampire – 100 imperial gallons.
I hope that this is of some use to your friend.
