Just completing a major service by Weald Aviation for Air Atlantique Classic flight. The tanks will be painted the correct colour once tested. Nice shot in a momentary sunny spell

In all honesty people who nit-pick about things like drop tanks on the Venom really P!ss me off:, AACF do as much for the preservation of this country’s jet and post war aviation heritage as shuttleworth do for the preservation of our pre-war heritage. Additionally they give ordinary enthusiasts the chance to actually fly in historic aircraft.

So just get real, you can’t reverse time so just be glad someone is willing to reach into thier pockets and fork out the tens of thousands of pounds needed to keep this Venom flying.

Historical accuracy depends on many things, if you are going to be a total purist then it could be argued that none of the current warbirds flying are actually accurate as they have all had replacement parts that have been created since they first flew.

It’s always nice to see things as they were in an ideal world but something is much better than nothing.

You’re talking the language of complete and utter lets be nice please…, RAF single seat Venoms could and indeed did carry underwing tanks.

Irrespective of our views, or what is ‘right and wrong’ the owners of these wonderful jets are entitled to do what they wish with them.

You neither it seems. Get your facts right. This is WR413 which served with 6 & 208 squadrons, in 1955.

It is nice to see authenticity in vintage aviation but if the owner of a classic aeroplane choses to paint it luminous green with orange stripes then that is their choice and I don’t feel I have any right to complain loudly unless I am in a position to buy the aircraft and repaint it myself.
When Southend museum got their Storch D-EKMU it was a bright orange with black trim stripes and at the time we were just pleased to have what was originally intended to be an airworthy Storch. I am not entirely sure why she was grounded but I think it was a problem with CAA requirements that hadn’t been forseen before the aircraft arrived in the UK.

I think Dave J was actually refering to the style of the tanks, not the fact that the Venom did/could carry underwing tanks.

Mark it does not appear to have a propeller? Is this some Mk of Spitfire we haven’t seen yet?? Book ? can you enlighten us ? I am sure Key cannot object when so many here would have in interest in that.;)
