Hearing that Revell were bringing out a ‘Harvard Mk.4’, I duly ordered two from my local model shop and upon getting home last night was very disappointed to find that its just the Heller T-6G repackaged.
No research at all has gone into the production of this kit – the text is very inaccurate and the model is a G model and nothing else. For those people that dont know, the Mk.4 is a totally different variant and has several noticeable differences from the G model. Not one of these has been included in the kit.
I just cant see how a manufacturer such as Revell can release a model of something that it clearly is not. Even down to the boxart (and the baggage door is wrong on that!) and the markings included…..all of this must have taken a considerable time and expense….just what was the point?
I thought all goods (well in this country) should be as described. This is clearly not the case with this model. What with Airfix re-releasing the same kit themselves, surely we have enough T-6Gs on the market. I suppose as a marketing ploy, Revell used the Mk.4 as a selling point…well it worked in a way because I bought two, but its not a Mk.4 and never will be.
Sorry if you think I’m off my trolley, but shall we say I’m very disappointed. A Mk.IIB or 4 would be an ideal sub-type to produce as they were used by so many countries, so why so many T-6Gs? I just dont know……
Best wishes,
Martin

I was cursing them tonight, the fit of the exhaust section to the fuselage is terrible!

Surprise, suprise I havent heard a thing from Revell. Will have to send a letter now. I’m not going to let them get away with it! 🙂
One of the modelling magazines is also taking up the subject.

Blimey! You’d think a company like Revell would pull its finger out with something like that?

Sounds very misleading for sure. I would be disappointed also. In that Revell 1/32 tornado that I posted about, all the directions are in german!

Yersterday I wrote to Revell, so I’ll just have to wait and see what their answer will be……
