Today I received a PM
… I had e-mailed Dan Johnson last night only to be saddened and shocked to receive this e-mail this morning.
“Glad you worked it out.
Actually things haven’t been OK here which explains my absence. My 21 year old son and 15 year old daughter were killed in a car accident last weekend.”
I’ve never met Dan myself, but his postings here have invariably been worth taking time and trouble to read.
As ever a desperate sense of uselessness is my main emotion. For those who want to take the time and trouble to show you care, his e-mail is

If I’m making a mistake in giving out the address here I apologise in advance. The responsibility is all mine.
Sad, sad news.

Terrible news…
Dan, this is absolutely terrible news.
As no stranger to grief myself – my beloved Tina died at 27 in 1988, knocked down and killed in front of me and her parents by a young driver whilst we were on holiday. Aileen also died tragically 5 years later at 32…. Both were ‘life partners’.
All I can say is, I know how you are feeling right now. Grief is difficult to explain. Its like a knife whirling around your insides. You keep repeating to yourself, If only I’d done this, gone there…… but know all along that the whatevers and what-ifs cannot bring them back.
Your true friends will be very important to you right now.
Every day passed is a step forward but I cannot tell you that it wont be really tough, especially over the next 12 months.
Terrible, terrible news…..
You are in my thoughts.

As someone who has 2 daughters aged 14 and 10,it would hurt me deeply if they both got seriously hurt.
Therefore to suffer something as sad as this, must be absolutely devastating.
My heart goes out to you.

Terrible news. My sincere condolences. I really can’t imagine what it must be like to lose your children. I have one and I can’t even begin to contemplate what it would be like to lose him.
