VHF RADIO

Alright,

Anybody know if you can tune into a website and listen to live VHF traffic?

Pretty bored at work and it would make a change to listen in. I’m trying to get Glasgow.

Cheers ‘n’ Merry Xmas

Yeah, I’m working in the city centre so I don’t think I’d get much signal.

I was thinking along the lines of someone with a good signal, broadcasting it over the net. No luck though, all I can do is sit and listen to 5 woman talk about diets 😀

I’m in Bothwell and can pick up Edinburgh most nights , esp around 23:00 – 12 movements in an hour or so – although the local Plod are worth listening to as well !!!.

Although what’s stopping you listening in on an actual scanner ? You’re in the neighbourhood are you not ? :dev2:

Given that you’re not strictly supposed to be listening in on a scanner, I doubt you’ll find a website doing it (for long).

Doubt if you will get Glasgow in fact any UK live feeds, any such website would probably break some daft restrictions in the UK Wireless Telegraphy Act or infringe the copyright of the CAA who operate the licence for that part of the radio spectrum.

Flood states;
This sort of thing would be illegal in Britain, of course.
Quite correct. Whilst owning an all singing all dancing scanner is perfectly legal, actually turning it on and tuning it to anything outside of 88 to 108 Mhz is technically outside the law in the UK. Mad isnt it.

Have a google for “live air traffic control” and you will find plenty in the USA plus Holland, Australia, Hong Kong etc.

You mean like BBC Radios 1-5, etc? Check their websites!
I used to have, in my favourites, a website that gave live broadcasts from either LA or San Fransisco police, ATC from an airport in that area, (I think) Washington DC fire service, and maybe a few US taxi companies. Needless to say it is not there anymore.
This sort of thing would be illegal in Britain, of course.
