I’m putting together a small publication celebrating Handley Page’s magnificent Victor.
Any of you folks have any images of the old beast?
Not looking for anything in particular but obviously it would be nice to find some shots from the “good old days before the tanker conversions. A nice cockpit interior shot would be useful too!
If anyone can help do please drop me a line. Thanks!

Thawes – thank you. Those mono pictures really bring back memories of that and other Biggin RAF BoB displays.:)

Common (at least relatively) in the true sense of the word, but still magnificent! :p
Hmm…I’ll let you off then! :p

I love the victor. One of the best looking jets of all time.

Damn right! I can provide you with as many interior shots of 231 as you like. As long as, being a tanker, she’s not too common for you that is…! 😉

Indeed I have but thanks for the suggestion.
Nothing wrong with tankers of course – just that they’re slightly over-photographed when compared to the bombers!
Well they were tankers longer than they were bombers.

Two photos of the second prototype Victor WB775 that I took at the Biggin Hill Battle of Britain display on Saturday 18th September 1955.
Sadly the prototype HP.80 (Victor) WB771 crashed on 14th July 1954 during a low level calibration run over the runway at Cranfield when the tail ripped off and the aircraft crashed, killing the crew.
The second HP.80 Victor prototype WB775 had its tail fitted using four stronger bolts and flew on 11th September 1954, appearing at the Farnborough SBAC show during its first flight.
A week later it participated (flew past) at the 1954 Biggin Hill Battle of Britain display on Saturday 18th September when I took these two photos.
Flying low and near the crowd was allowed in those days!

Have you thought of contacting the Handley page association, they hold a vast amount of pictures etc, some of them will be pre tanker pics.
