just found this on the bbc news website, an interesting ‘tour’ of the new tower at Heathrow, which apparently becomes ‘active’ this Saturday, unless the video is really old and has just resurfaced on the news front page for no apparent reason. :confused:

Very impressive, i’d love to see it in person!!! Many years ago as a kid i did work experience at Newcastle Airport, 3 days with Northeast Aviation (anyone remember them?) and 3 with ATC, the one occasion in my life i’ve made it into a control tower. I guess there’s zero chance of a visit to the new tower at EGNT when it’s completed even though i live just round the corner, gutted!!

It’s great working at Heathrow, certainly, and if all goes well tonight, then we’ll have an even better view than before.
A pity it’s a retrograde step in many ways.

cheers for poisting this adam, it does look very cool! i would love to be a heathrow controller!
i actually picked up transmissions from aircraft landing on 27R this morning from my garden on the isle of wight! there is a certain location in the garden that allows you to hear aircraft that are just establishing on Heathrows ILS. pretty incredible, and a massive surprise!
