Anyone Know why it was there?

That’s Heathrow (in Europe) as opposed to, say, Athens (in Europe)……..
For a 777 the fuel required for anywhere in Europe is not going to lengthen its take-off run noticeably. A flight UK to ATH is only about a 1/3 of a 777s potential. 🙂
The aircraft did infact come to EDI from Eastern Europe somewhere.

It’s a mates birthday tomorrow so I can’t make it. The next time I’ll be at EDI is the 3rd of June. The crack of down and late evening. 🙂

Oh, and I was told that there is a possibility John Travolta is coming into EDI with his 707 tomorrow!!!!!
Not a confirmation, but possible

I wasn’t at Ingliston, I was at the other end of the runway at the railway bridge, just past the Cargo Centre. Check out my thread I’ve just started, still not quite got the photos ready. 🙂

Folks, I’m well aware it was a lightly loaded 777.
But I was under the impression it would still take up a bit more runway.
Its Empty weight is about the same as a fully loaded 757!
There was a strong wind though which will have helped.
Ripconcorde, you were there? What car? I was beside a blue Peugeot 406 and light Blue Mini S Cooper (Belonging to BOD)

Adding to what Bmused said, the CSA 735 used more runway than the Vietnam 777. I got a few pics myself from different locations that I’ll post later. 🙂

Sorry forgot Heathrow was outside Europe………. 🙂

Another airport in Europe!?!?!?!
It was going no further than Heathrow! You think Emirates may be considering taking BA on head-to-head on the EDI-LHR Shuttle, Silver Snapper? 😀
By: by738 - 23rd May 2004 at 17:31
Emirates would like to operate their aircraft with more than 80 people on board , and with a full fuel load !!!
This 777 was far from full and is only travelling to another airport in Europe, hence light load and quick take off.

I wonder if Emirates are reading this? 😡 😡
Since when were Emerates planning VIP flights EDI-LHR in a lightly laiding B777? 😉
By: Silver Snapper - 23rd May 2004 at 17:15
Allow to add, this 777 took off with a shorter run that a 757!!!!
