Well, now that I think about it, it makes perfects sense. The 7E7 could fit into their fleet just nicely.
Vietnam Airlines confirmed to ATWOnline that it is looking at acquiring up to 15 7E7s to replace its eight 767s. Reuters quoted Boeing Regional Sales Director Chris Flint last week as suggesting that the airline was looking at the 7E7. It has taken delivery of two 777-200ERs and will take delivery of another 777 in Sept. It will receive its last 777 next June.
Thats all of the article.. hence no link to the “rest”

It reminds me of a short B777, OK?
By: Bmused55 - 3rd June 2005 at 19:49
Quite splendid, Sandy. 🙂
It still looks like a short B777 to me, though……..oh well, I’ll get used to it with time, no doubt.
Aside from the fact that the Tail, Wings, Engines and Nose look nothing like a 777 I’d say there are similarities  😉

Now that will be an aircraft hard to beat, when it comes to looks. Their livery is so nice and on a 787 it must be even nicer.

Vietnam Airlines signs up to buy four Boeing 787 Dreamliners
HANOI, Vietnam – Vietnam Airlines will buy four Boeing 787 Dreamliners as part of a plan to expand its fleet to meet increasing travel demands, an airline spokesman said Friday.
Prime Minister Phan Van Khai has instructed the state-owned airline to complete the contract, which is expected to be signed during his visit to the United States on June 19-25, said spokesman Nguyen Chan.
Chicago-based Boeing Co. has said the wide-body jetliners will be delivered to the communist country in 2010. The deal is valued at about $500 million at list prices, although airlines usually negotiate discounts.
Khai will be the first Vietnamese prime minister to travel to Washington. Vietnam and the U.S. are former foes that normalized diplomatic relations 10 years ago.

German sources write, that the contract will be signed in June.
I presume at Paris Air Show 2005.
