Vietnam Huey loss info sought…

…because this particular incident sounds very interesting.

While reading the excellent book “Blackjack 34” it mentions a Huey that went down during the Vietnam war in very strange circumstances. BTW if you want a great read then this is the book for you. Totally rivetting without resorting to Mel Gibson gung-ho ness!

The Scenario.
It happened during a previous mission called Blackjack 33 (date unknown) while the mission Blackjack 34 was in operation. BJ34 was during July 18 1967 so BJ33 would have been before this date.

The Huey in question was found by BJ34 recon Team. The aircraft was intact on the jungle floor as if it had landed but the crew were still on board in their respective crew positions still strapped in. Their skeletons remained in the aircraft fully clothed. There was no sign of damage to the helicopter, no crash damage, no bullet hits. The crew obviously were killed instantly but there was no attempt to escape and no firefight.

So the question is how can a Huey crash to the jungle floor with no damage and instantly kill it’s crew with no sign of trauma or struggle?

Blackjack 33 was from 24/4/67 to 24/5/67. 162 AHC supported the mission. Any additional info on the crash? Location? Number of crew found?

I would imagine hundreds were lost but I bet not many in this way. As the wreck was found by a recon team it may have been investigated post war. Would be interested to know what the story was.

Yes, very Mulder and Sculley. Perhaps a CIA surveillance bird lost in suspicious circumstances. We can but fantasize.
