Why don’t we have an official viewing area at LHR anymore? The old Queens Building was an excellent venue for viewing . That’s where I remember being taken there for the very first visit to LHR in the 60’s. The facilties were very good indeed.
If other International Airports such as Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Manchester, and Zurich, to name but a few, have excellent facilties for the enthusiat, why not LHR?!
Does anyone know who is the MP for the Heathrow area is?. I think all enthusiats should lobby him/her to get BAA to set up some facility. The extra revenue earned by having such a facility would surely prove beneficial to all in time. I don’t think anyone would begrudge paying say £8.00 – £10.00 per person including parking if the facilties were there!
Whats your thoughts!

Senseless idiots. The visitors centre is a joke.

There is one in front of the old visitors centre, although in an ‘inspired’ decision the car park now only holds about 10 cars i understand, although its free i think…

I find it baffling why no-one seems to have the common sense to understand that aviation spotting/photography is a very big hobby for people worldwide and Heathrow is near the top of anyone’s list of airports to visit.
Heathrow has some of the best traffic in the world and we have to resort to aerial shots often in rubbish light. Ok it is possible to get ground shots but it aint that easy.
If Heathrow had a couple of dedicated spotting areas that are manned by security and you have to go through a security check they would make millions of pounds in revenue !
Look at the observation decks in Japan. They are absolutely wonderful – they are all free but I would happily pay to enter them.
I’ve often thought of someone starting a petition to get try to get some proper facility opened at Heathrow but it’d be a complete waste of time as the people who read it have heads full of porridge.
Gatwick is worse ! The police around there act as if we are in North Korea. Completely senseless.
