Real Estate in Southern California is relatively expensive. Not sure how the San Diego area compares to the L.A. area. I know San Francisco is ridiculously expensive.

San Diego airport seems a lot like Wellington – houses on a hillside overlooking the runway. Wonder what they go for?

That 747 was operating the 1730 service to Heathrow, some of my work colleagues were catching it, whilst I was catching the Aer Lingus to Glasgow via Dublin.

I came across this photo on Airliners Net of a united A 320 landing on Rwy 27 at Lindbergh field San Diego, and thought what lucky people live on that hill overlooking the runways
There is an excellent story with some great pictures about Lindbergh field in Airliners No 81

Tom Bradley was indeed Black. I can’t confirm that he was the first Black mayor, but I’m pretty sure that is the case.

Wasn’t he the first black mayor of LA or did I dream that up ?
By: greekdude1 - 7th June 2003 at 00:17
Tom Bradley was the Mayor of L.A. from the late 70’s (I think?) until the early to mid 90’s. The Bradley terminal was completed just in time for the Summer Olympics in ’84.

By the way, who was Tom Bradley?
By: greekdude1 - 7th June 2003 at 00:08
I don’t know, ask BigRed. He used to be a rampworker at said terminal for said airline.

They actually remodeled that whole thing about 8 years ago, Ren. That whole upstairs area, never used to exist, with the exception of the one little bar in the middle. Where you took the pic of the BA 744, that upper level wasn’t there, it was on ground level. Much nicer now, plus they added all those shops.

Nice pics Ren. Just to let you all know, the Aer Lingus pic was taken at the gate, after security check.
You’re right, I couldn’t remember where I took the Aer Lingus one? The BA pic was taken at the public side of security, upstairs near the bar.

Nice pics Ren. Just to let you all know, the Aer Lingus pic was taken at the gate, after security check, naturally. However, that BA pic was taken upstairs in the Lobby, prior to security. You can always get a decent glimpse of the aircraft that is parked adjacent to the window on either side of the Bradley Terminal. Not to mention, aircraft taxiing from the North side of the Airport to the Southside, at the very back of the Bradley terminal, upstairs.

The views from inside Tom Bradley terminal at LAX aren’t too bad either although these shots were taken through the windows, you can see what’s going on in a couple of areas.
