Hi FP-forum readers,
I am planning to spend some time in/near Rome spring 2007. Just wondering if the Vigna di Valle museum can easily be reached using public transport. Or is a taxi the only option ?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Benno
(The museum has a website, but only in Italian as far as I know)

Vigna Di Valle
It’s not too bad by public transport from Rome.
I went by train from Rome Ostiense to Vigna di Valle then it’s about a 30+ minute walk (or 45 minutes uphill on the way back). The stopping trains are hourly from Rome (5 euros return).
I don’t think I picked quite the best walking route which was back parallel to the railway along the main road towards Rome for about a kilometer then left across a railway crossing and then pretty much straight along the same road – after a while it drops down a hill towards the lake, then there’s a sharply angled junction at which you fork left (signposted to the museum) then it’s a few hundred metres further. I think there’s another road from the station which doesn’t involve walking in amongst the traffic!
I gather the nearest public transport is a bus stop about 1km from the museum – near the military entrance to the base for the bus running between Bracciano and Anguillara which are both on the same railway line from Rome as Vigna di Valle

Hi Benno,
I’ve sent you an eMail via AB-IX with a range of helpful advice that I received from A-B members and I’ve also provided a link to advice given on this forum.

I was going to share some photos here but seem to have exceeded the reduced quota so that will have to wait till I’ve time to sort it out.
