Way back when in the FSC threads I suggested Absalon class for C2 and C3. I was shot down in flames (and rightly so)
But currently off work with broken bones and high on painkillers have stumbled on some more info on Danish Thetis class and Stanflex.
It is my view that C3 must:
be affordable (possibly built to a price)
be builldable
be straightforward to build
be capable of NGS and have this as default
be exportable
and be attractive to exportees
be economical in use
be survivable
face up to assymetric threats
have decent range
be capable of fighting if the balloon goes up
have a helo
Thetis use Diesels, have lots of consumables and have stupidly long range
Thetis are double-hulled for ice protection, I;m guessing that this would make them more survivable vs assymetric threats and torpedoes
Thetis has 3 Stanflex positions
Stanflex is rather more flexible than I realised
Danish shipyards are currently building Patrol Frigates but everyone likes to get paid a licence fee
So my suggestion
Thetis for C3
Licence build
Stanflex psn. A with Mk8 (UK pay for integration)
1 Stanflex psn. X FFBNW Camm (UK pay for integration)
1 Stanflex psn. Y mission module (MCM, Hydrography, whatever)
Artisan as radar (in place of FR-1505, AWS-6 and 9LV 200 Mk 3) again UK pay for integration
UK and Denmark collaborate in selling to RAN, NZ, USN

The preliminary design of the Thetis class was by Y-ARD (Yarrow Admiralty Research Division) according to Olsen and Storgaard (1998)
Olsen, G. & S. Storgaard (1998): Flådens Skibe og Fartøjer 1945-1995, Marinehistoriske Skrifter, Copenhagen, Denmark, 317 pp.

Cheers! I thought I had read that some where, could not find it on my book shelf.
Wanshan – Flex is a danish system of exchanagble boxes and weapons, but the actual design of the vessel is not flex.

I am sure the Thetis was designed by a UK firm originally?

snow day for me so I gave it s stab at converting the Thetis to a RN ship.
i like this. not overly complex and would be a quick shipbuilding project, perfect for ops of Somali or in the Caribbean
