Vimy to fly again

Vimy ‘NX71MY’ had a successful engine test today and things are looking good for a return to the skies this summer. Don’t forget you’ll be able to see her at the “Wings and Wheels” event at Dunsfold on August 27th: http://www.wingsandwheels.net

At this time very little is certain and nothing is yet, offically, in the public domain.

The reason for this is that the situation is very complex and there are major decisions that are still to be made and are not in the power of the aircraft team to decide. When all is settled I may write it up. Until then I am sorry, you will have to wait.

The aeroplane is being kept in an airworthy condition for a number of reasons not all of which include actually flying the aeroplane.

There will be public announcements made but until those have been done everything is speculation. Please wait for thos public announcements

I have my own opinions on what should, or should not, happen and those have been discussed, in confidence, with the excellent Vimy team and the key people who now make decisions. If what I think is adopted then you will learn about that, if another decision is made I will abide by that and accept it without mentioning my own ‘preferred’ answer.

Sorry to be vague but speculation, “ideal” bookings and rumour does no one any good.

The Vimy is in good hands and its future is assured, whether it flies or not.

Watch this space, all will be revealed.

Would you happen to have a list of where she’s due to appear?

I always thought she was supposed to be going in a museum after that last flight she did. What happened to that idea? not that I am complaining. At this rate I might still get to see her in the air rather than admiring other peoples pics.

The BMW engines were M73 V-12s from the 7-series

Current engines are Orenda OE600As

BMW ENGINES

Thanks a lot for this updating.
Nevertheless I still need to know the type of engine used at that time, I believe it was car engines modified for airworthy use, but about the type ………..??

VIMY’S ENGINES

I’ve never looked in control.

Engine runs are being done on a regular basis to keep everything lubed and sexy.

Big public thank you to the Brooklands volunteers who turned up to help.

My dear cloudster owner club member (in england in the world ?)
Only one question, could you please tell me what type of BMW engines are fitted on the Vimy?
