Vintage Aircraft Club Fly-ins ~ Jan & Feb

Please note these events will NOT be at Turweston.
This decision has been taken in association with the management at Turweston.

These events will be held at a new venue but due to the nature of the venue they are restricted to VAC members only – even by road I’m afraid – membership validity will be checked.
There may be non-members allowed but only if aircraft deemed to be suitably Vintage or Classic.

These events will be STRICTLY PPR – even to members – Radio and Non-Radio will be allowed.

Propstrike: Not much – as you say the wind was abit sporty… there was a Gazelle from Redhill apparently this morning and a Cherokee this afternoon… the based gliding club flew too!
Dam shame the weather spoilt it again!!

Anyone fly in to Bicester today? The wind was in bit on the sporty side round the Chilterns, and I do not think I have seen a light a/c all day. Certainly not ‘Cubbing’ weather.

Lovely. 🙂

Of course it is – it’s an Auster! The spats set it off nicely IMHO.

Actually four of us got the air under our feet at the Bicester VAC event. David Allison was the hero for airing the Gemini while the visibility was still tight, then as the weather improved Arthur Mason and I got some ‘bracing’ flying in the Peitenpol and Luton Minor respectively – which prompted Barry Plumb to rush back to Hinton and fly his Plumb Biplane in.

Yes, it was bleeding cold in an open cockpit. But not as cold as this Sunday!!

There are some nice piccies on Windrushers website (they now run the airfield) http://www.windrushers.org.uk/snowballrally.htm

Colin,

we were set up in the tower but little business was done as most people stayed in the hangar / club rooms and did not venture too far (considering the wx I do not blame them) Hope to be there for the event on the 13th Feb depending on wx.

We were starting to pack up around 1.30 as it was obvious that nothing was going to turn up. The Gemini did a nice circuit or 2 which certainly got a lot of attention. The pietenpol also flew for a bit but I would think the pilot would have been like an ice cube on landing.

Paul,
agreed ..potentially excellent venue for this type of event…all-grass,some interesting residents and an airfield that absolutely oozes history…
shame I missed other movements, didn’t get there myself till after lunch, then spent quite some time in hangar….sorry also to have missed you,I understand you were in the control tower somewhere…how’d it go????
