The Vintage Gliding Club is progressing well with the build of a new hangar at Lasham dedicated to housing gliders owned by the club and its members, a second building will follow where an exhibition of artifacts and historical items related to gliding will be displayed. Its so nice to see this investment in a permanent home for these gliders, creating a museum where they can be permanently displayed along with models as well as being flown. There is nothing more beautiful than a wooden glider.

Well it may only have been beautiful in the eyes of its crews and designers but the Hamilcar wasn’t just a wooden glider but it was also Britains largest wooden aircraft.
Personally I can’t wait for the Lasham project to be finished.

Looking forward to this event but will there be any public airside access, or will there be the normal Lasham ‘lock out’ for enthusiasts??

I can think of quite a few things infinitely more beautiful than a glider, wooden or otherwise.

looking forward to the VGC Rally.
Indeed. We’ll be coming over there too, with four pilots, T30A, T34A and T38 if all works out well on getting the trailers ready in time…
