Virgin Express: the expensive low-cost carrier?

I was looking at Virgin Express’ website lately and noticed that their fares are quite high. They claim to have it’s lowest fare at €49 including taxes one way on all routes. That is not the most expensive of course, but is not really comparable with the fares of easyJet or Ryanair for example. But Virgin Express provide service at a higher level than the other low cost carriers. Plus, Virgin Express flies to primary airports, which is expensive. Their fleet isn’t of the newest.
However, after nearly going bankrupt a few years ago, they are now running well.
What do you think of this airline? LoCo or FullService airline?

Yes, but imagine two people going on a round trip to Madrid. four times €49 makes €196. That is almost more than Iberia! Even prices for October and further are always €49 at lowest.

The market is starting to mature slightly I think. Prices are not ridiculously low, and on many ocassions full service airlines are beating the low frills airlines on price.
You also have to remember that we are in the summer season now, and demand is a lot higher, and therefore prices will be too.

It can be compared to easyJet. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an affordable fare on their website. Always being beaten by British Airways!
