Tomorrow, 50 years ago was Easter Sunday. That was the day that a Capital Airlines Viscount crashed at Tri-City airport killing all 47 persons on board.

‘This crash is interesting in that it was originally attributed to pilot error. A few years later a similar fatal incident occurred (CO290 29jan63 MAF-MKC) and the CAB revised their findings (1965). Buildup of undetected (horn type) ice on the horizontal stabilizer caused the aircraft to pitchover and thus created an uncontrollable flying condition.’
