Viscount G-AOHL

Has anyone got any pictures of this aircraft they wouldn’t mind posting? I am researching it as a chunk of fuselage is now sitting on my desk. It is a section rescued when the airfrafme was scrapped. I gather the cockpit still exists and would welcome any photos.

Many thanks, Rob

G-AOHL

That was indeed myself and someone else on this forum.

From a personal point of view as a young avionics apprentice with BAF it was my job to strip the instuments from the cockpit section in what must have been 1980. This was after BAF purchased it from BA, and it was delivered to SEN. Before all the instruments were removed, all the panels were photographed. Once all the instruments were out, full size blown up pictures of the panels were fixed in place, to make it look like real from a distance.

The aircraft was then totally used for cabin crew training.

We offered Hanningfields £500 for the cockpit around 2 years ago, but like everything, as soon as they realised someone was interested, they decided to up the price somewhat, and then decided not to sell at all. 🙁

Not sure where it is now. Heres a picture in their yard 2 years ago.

I think it was still there last year.

When we kicked off our Viscount project we came across a chap who wanted to purchase the Hannington Metals cockpit section.

Im unsure of the time scales involved in the story but, they gave him a selling price but when he went back they had changed their mind as they wanted it for film work.

So hopefully……………………………

The cockpit could still be with Hannington Metals.

Hope so – amazed it never sold on EBay for £500 though.

Hmmm – would fit nicely on the front lawn……… 😉
