Visit to a very wet Heathrow plus some pics

Hi all,

Myself and A330Crazy took a trip up to Heathrow today and the day seemed to start off bad, then got worse and worse as it progressed!

Andy’s once-hourly bus drove straight past him. Whilst waiting at Hatton Cross for him, the clouds built up and then shed their loads. Was able to watch from underneath the shelter as the aircraft approached 27L for landing. Not much to see though, the usual British Airways lot; especially A319s and A320s as well as one British Mediterranean A321. Also saw an EAL 737-200 and the Varig MD-11. During the 45 minutes I was there, only one 747 landed – British Airways.

Just three pics to show I’m afraid, all of which are very disappointing! It wasn’t worth trying to use the camera at all due to poor light and the very poor weather! 🙁

First up, just to illustrate how bad it was. You can see the streetlamps in the foreground as clear as day, but the British Airways 777-200 behind is practically covered by fog. Still wearing the Chelsea Rose colours which was nice.

Secondly, and almost finally(!), the BEA Trident Three as we waited at a Bus Stop in the pouring rain to catch a bus to Hatton Cross, all of 50 metres away! Not long until we find out the fate of this aircraft.

Finally, the two models I bought today. I was able to claim 20% off of each because of Andy being a member (thanks!), so spent £39 on the two. I’ve put some information on the photo so you know what exactly they are and who makes them. Didn’t have a good value 744, so had to opt for a 743 instead!

Let’s hope the Dublin trip in 12 days isn’t rained off! 🙂

If you are referring to the British Airways 777, I have sort of figured it out. Unfortunately, I’m not able to confirm it since the Heathrow Movement pages have not been uploaded for yesterday.

But at about 9.30pm on Wednesday, one of the two Chelsea Rose 777s left for Kuwait, so I’m assuming this is where it is returning from. 🙂

Would that aircraft be inbound from somewhere in the states?

Steve: Thats one difficult question!
ACA: There are currently 2 777s left in Chelsea Rose, VIIO, and VIIS. BA are taking a while to repaint the 777 fleet, but it looks like they will all be painted into Union Flag by the end of the first half of the year 🙁

great stuff! I spent a couple of hours up at LBA today as Thurs is usually quite good. BAL B752s G-BYAI and AW visited, along with Iberworld A320 EC-INZ, Air 2000 A320 G-OOAP, and several biz-jets from the N register were all present as well as the usual BMA, RYR, UKA, EXS and EZE flights – not a bad couple of hpours on a very nice day!
