Visit to Spitfire Corner

I finally made it to visit the legendary Spitfire corner in Newquay yesterday, if you havent been yet well worth a visit. His MK IX looks stunning. Interesting Spitfire wall paper which I was much impressed with and a nice collection of various aviation relics on display. Also very impressed with the superb original artwork that Baz creates. Thanks to Baz for taking the crew back to our hotel after a cracking night out!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

Got to say, I often call around to around to Baz’s gaff & if anyone deserves an award for Historic aviation enthusiasm, he does, always something new, always something going on, never ceases to amaze me 😎

Wow….

What a tribute to the hard work that has gone into Spitfire Corner!

I bet some established museums would be delighted to get these visitor figures!

Lots of coaches today (22), after a spin through the cctv, nearly 500 visitors in total,
which is a Boxing day record (7 years).

At one point 4 coaches and 4 cars, pretty steady all day.

Its pitch black out there and I’m still getting people stopping and taking photos!

Glad you liked it, Paul

After leaving son at Newquay airport today, I took a short detour to have a quick ‘over the fence’ look at Barry’s garden Spitfire. Within a minute or so of arrival, two large coaches pulled up and the place was suddenly swarming with camera-toting tourists – a quite amazing and unexpected sight on this Boxing Day afternoon.

Some ten minutes later we all returned to our vehicles and resumed our various journey’s allowing peace and tranquility to once again return to Spitfire corner. A very pleasant interlude during an altogether very nice day out in Cornwall.

Regards……Paul

At least you got invited inside, we were kept in the garden, though little one still loves the postcards she was given.

We will return.

Nice to see you again, glad to see you had a window of opportunity:)

It was like a forumites convention with Dr Strangelove and Wingcommanderflap!

Good to see the doorman at the RBL remained upright for the evening:D

Would love to visit as well! Came close this summer on holiday to Cornwall. Unfortunately the post wedding anniversary drive from St Ives to Crewkerne for a Spitfire dig precluded any further aviation activities that week.
