Hi guys,
This afternoon at about 13.45 a large twin engined airliner flew over the park where I was taking my dog for a walk. This is about twelve miles north west of BHX. It came up from the south and turned to make an approach on runway 15. The fuselage and tail were either a blue or green colour but I couldn’t make out any other markings. Aircraft fly over my town like this a lot, but this one was making repeated changes of the throttle settings, at least five or six times while I could see him. This only usually happens once or twice.
So, anybody out there got any idea what I saw?

Check BBC ceefax (or BHX web site-if they have one) at the same time next thursday and see if there is an MYT long haul flight…or whatever due in. It may have just been a one-off.

You’re certainly quick off the mark!
I think you’re right MYT A330. Never seen one before so it seems to fit the bill.
Thanks again

I may have said an MYT A330 then…the blue though, stretches the full length of the fueselage (they’re not in full MYT c/s’s yet).
Other than that maybe a Prima A300…but they’re currently all white I believe.
No Problem

P.s I’ll have a think about this one

RE: Visitor to BHX 18/7/02
Hi Benair,
No, definitely not JMC as I am used to seeing them. I would suggest this was no higher than 2500 – 3000 feet, that’s why it originally caught my attention and it was definitely a wide body. It was a bit murky at the time and my eyes aren’t what they were and the fuselage colour appeared solid and extended well down the fuselage, probably to the level of the wings.
Thanks for the quick response though.

The blue or GREEN tail area could suggest a JMC A330? Did it have winglets? I spose it may have been difficult, at 15 miles out it would probably have been at about 3500-4000ft or more.
