vista dx10 test and bugs

i built a premium system, especially for fsx dx10 fs acceleration. these are my findings. running identical settings and switching between dx9 and dx10 isee some visual improvement mainly in the cockpit these are so faint they could be a figment of my imagination. i can detect no improvement in frame rates. in dx10 some runway markings jiggle about, this disappears in dx9..i have had some some game and system crashes in dx10 but not dx9.of course this could be driver issues, only time will tell..am i disappointed? no. i love fsx and i was never fooled by those screenshots that are obviously artist impressions released by the marketing men.thanks to Peter Stark for the mission building articles, i am having fun with it.:)

Well, I have Vista 64x and I must say I am very, very happy with it.

My experience has been that it has virtually no ‘freezes’ and when you get the odd one it is so much easier to get it back again, and for some reason, FSX + GenX seem to work so much better.

And it’s nice to have the side bar that tells you your outside temperature, a nice calendar and a really smart analogue clock – great + other widgits if you want them.

Sorry, but I find it a vast improvement over anything that has gone before.

vista/dx10/fsx

the informed opinion seems to be that dx10 wont offer any visible effects until fs11 comes along.this sort of negates vista when xp/sp3 runs rings around vista. it was just a ploy to get fs users to buy vista. oh well at least ive still got my guitar….jim

Yes, I’ve got DX10 and I must agree, it is a disappointment at present. I suppose we have to remember its only a beta version so far. My experience was that it gave a few extra frames per second which I don’t really need but left me with the most awful burries you’ve ever seen; whole windows of buildings flashing on and off, and virtually any line and all the trees continually on the move.

I’ve switched it off until the real version comes along when hopefully those of us who’ve already got it will rerceive a free update.
