Following a strategic review of the route network, VLM Airlines has decided to terminate the Brussels to Southampton operation. Although the route performed to all expectations in the first few months of operation, in recent months its performance has been worsened and the route has fallen significantly behind budget.
However, VLM Airlines is in discussions with another airline to hopefully take over the route ensuring a continued service on the route for its customers. This airline operates smaller aircraft which are better tailored for this route. Talks are at an early stage, but will ideally result in a codeshare with this airline, enabling VLM Airlines to continue to sell this route to its existing customers.
The aircraft which is currently used on the BRU-SOU route will be transferred to operate additional services on the Brussels to London City route; this route has been performing quite strong this year in many respects and VLM Airlines believes the time is now right to introduce a prudent increase in frequency on this route.
