Voice Flight 267 Squadron

In the late 50’s the RAF formed a psy-ops unit in Malaya- the ‘Voice Flight’ of 267 Squadron. The flight operated 3 Dakotas ‘Faith’ ‘Hope’ and ‘Charity’ (no prizes for where they thought those up from!). The flight operated over Communist held territory playing pre recorded messages via some powerful loudspeakers slung under the aircraft.

I’ve found the following references on the web but would be keen to hear if anyone has seen anything else and I’m particularly interested to contact anyone who knew Sgt Joe Neville who served on the flight.

Thanks

Just found this forum and registered – hence the gap in the posts.

This thread has particular interest to me as my father was a pilot with 267 Sqdn and flew the three dakotas mentioned.

He flew with Joe Neville. In fact in one of the first links of this thread http://www.centercomp.com/cgi-bin/dc3/story?1434 my father gets a mention (as does the email conversations I had with Joe).

I have some photos taken during that time and also all my fathers logbooks. I also have some photos of Joe smoking a rather large cigar.

Stan

On my own forum, all RAF/ex RAF bods, there are some of those guys that were associated with those Daks based at Changi and when the CT’s moved up country they also operated from Butterworth and KL. There were some prangs, if you would like to join the forum you could ask these guys that question, if some of them can’t answer that personally then I’m sure they know a man that can:p
