Werra alleged that he strafed an airfield on destroyed 4 aircraft oon the ground on the 28th August 1940. Possibly Detling or Eastchurch, any ideas?

Andy – I agree not to bother with the AHB as they now seem intent in hindering and not aiding researchers. Luckily Nigel Parker has provided details of some of the the intelligence transcripts from around this date which might relate to either Werra or Schnabel. He also gave K reports which were more detailed than my scribbled notes made at the AHB back in the eighties.

Ian – I told you that you would only find nudists! Again back in the eighties along with Perry I visited the crash site of Feary’s Spitfire but we uncoverd little. Feary features prominently in my book but for some reason the publishers failed to feature a photo of him but then their proof reading was crap.Sorry I couldn’t make it to the dig but at my age the weather was against me.

Hello Huw, Philippa is back from France now so might be worth asking. Nothing conclusive from Whitmore Stairs. Just nudists!

Hello Hugh!

Long time no speak. I enjoyed your book “Achtung Spitfire!” although I hope you have shot down the publisher’s about the cover.

Are you asking here for information from the “K” reports? Might be able to help as I will be at Kew in next few weeks. Have you asked Peter Cornwell, though?

Don’t bother asking AHB. They seem to have slammed the shutters firmly closed on information and help.
