Without searching through the usual “Google” does anyone know how VOR’s get their identity? Some I realise will be named according to their geographical location.

As far as I know the majority in the UK are named after towns or geographic points near them: Turnberry (TRN), St Abbs (SAB), Glasgow (GOW), Wallasey (WAL), Dean Cross (DCS) (though I have heard this is some way from Dean Cross itself). So there’s a few Scottish examples and one from Liverpool, I am sure the rest of the UK is similar
