Been visiting East fortune for years. Yesterday spotted on the port undercarriage door what looks like graffiti from her Black Buck mission. Appears to say “Ascension”, there’s what looks like the remains of a sketch of a mountain underneath and below that “GO BRITS”.
Never had much luck loading pictures to this site but hopefully the link to my photo on Flickr will allow anyone interested to see it.

No worries. That photo was taken in the 90s some time and wasn’t long after a repaint. The radar dish in the background has long since succumbed to the scrapman.

Great pic and thanks for posting it. She certainly looks in better cosmetic shape in that pic than she does now. Yes, I spotted it after I’d had a long chat with one of the staff there and there weren’t any in the vicinity of the Vulcan. First time I had seen the zap.

I think it was a ‘zap’ (if that is the right term?) by United States personnel based on Ascension Island back in 1982.
